found art in the country!

while up in the country this weekend
we attended an outdoor party
at "western smoke out town"
owner "earnie" hosts this great party
3 bands , food and byob plus a huge bomb fire
the first thing i noticed was charlie's bike!!!
WOW a collage artists dream
i couldn't stop taking pictures
the was so much "stuff" on this bike
i love the "mad max" feel

my favorite is the " brownie hawkeye" camera on the back
crown royal bag, crystal door knobs,
mouse trap, egg beater, change maker,
hand cuffs, oil can, spur, horns, lunch box,
marlboro ashtray and bicks and smuckes gas covers

i'm sure i could design my own helmet
that would go perfect with this!!

i'm getting inspired

more found grunge art

you can't walk very far
without finding postered walls, graffiti
or some kind of advertisement
as much as i like a clean city
i'm fascinated by the layers
torn, riped, weathered papers
revealing whats hidden
----------
above 8 layers of photos
with various blending modes

full moon

i just had to take this challenge
i'm so ruled by the moon
it's a great source of creatively for me when it is full
the photo was taken last fall during the harvest moon
through the trees just outside my front door
a few weeks ago i was bored and
made some simple paper backgrounds
i added some gesso on to to diffuse the text
a blue wash of paint
then added the "paper moon"
and transfered a copy of the photo with gel medium
i'd like to try this in my encaustic class
maybe next week!

one of those days!

have you ever had one of those days
where nothing goes right
i was so excited to get to class today
i had several "works in progress"and
a few new ideas to start
well, it just didn't happen
3 hours of getting frustrated
and just feeling like all my ideas
were not working out as i dreamed
so i have nothing to show for today
hopefully next week i will get my groove back
i think i used up all my creative "juices" yesterday
working on my mini collages for owoh
i finished a series of "angels"
seen above
wallpaper, one of photos, and
a transparency of an iron gate

more collage

it's been fun looking through all my paper
i should really do this more often
it has sparked alot of creativity
i even got out the my sewing machine
which i haven't used in over a year
i found a stash of mini canvas boards and
have using them to make these collages
above are a few photos
from a country road trip to port perry
and i found a huge container of "oriental" papers
so far i've made 40 "heart ", 18 collage and
40 photo cards plus 20 mini canvas collages

what's in a name?

i've been visiting hundreds of blogs since the start of owoh
and have noticed many people wondering about
how their blog got it's name
most of my regular bloggers are friends ,
so they know the answer or i've never asked
my website is all pulped out
i've always loved paper and started making
papier mache in the early '90's
i was making a lot of home decor items and
was enjoying it very much
i made my own pulp, sculpted each item, added wire ,
painted or decoupage
by '96 i was attending a huge craft show
and needed to make a ton
so i invited all my girlfriends to my house for a "margarita" party
and asked them each to bring a blender
well before you knew it, drinks and pulp where flying everywhere
at the end of the nite i was taking a break
and one of my friends said
"hey, get back to work" and i replied "i'm all pulped out"
and she said "that's it! that's your name!"
since then my art has evolved , working on collage,
mixed media ,assemblage and jewelry
i've taken many classes, here in toronto, at
so when i started my blog i called it
the evolution of nancy
lately i've been concentrating on my digital work and encaustic
i promised on my owoh giveaway that i would make 150 art cards
and something special for all my followers
well, out came the paper and i started to collage again
i'm so happy to be knee deep in paper and covered with glue!
the above is one of a series called "countries roads"

then visit their blogs and i haven't
been to owoh links list yet!
everyone has been so kind with their comments
i will be blessed with some wonderful friends
i'd better get to work
i promised everyone at least an art card!
(i decided to add a limit of 150 only after i did the math)
(i my have to enlist the help of my friends)
