full moon

being a cancerian means i'm ruled by the moon

i always get a surge of energy and creativity before and during

the full moon but after its time to crash
(above, the view from my front yard,

the moon sitting low and very bright

since i didn't feel like setting up my tripod i got this wonderful shot!!!)

step by step

my friend ludgera and i have been working on some ps projects

she is just learning how layers work (she calls it layer soup!!)

so to help her out we e-mail back and forth photos and projects

learning how to adjust each layer as we go and most importantly

playing and learning something new

lu sent me a photo of the last full moon ( left)

(we are both cancerians and ruled by it!!!)

i added a purple photo filter and flipped it vertically

and cropped it

a graveyard photo from salem, ma
and an old photo was one of many i found at the
old paper show a few years ago
i used the "color burn" blending mode on the graveyard photo
it made the purple a little too intense
so i adjusted the saturation
and added the portrait
and set the opacity at 50%

the image was starting to take shape but
was lacking a gory feel
i tried adding blood with the paint brush
but didn't like the results
if only i had some dripping blood...
well after a bit of thinking and searching

i found a painting i did several years ago
i liked the way the ink dripped
so i converted it to bw and erased what i didn't like
inverted it and added a red photo filter



it works well over the project
to finish it off i added a bat on the moon
and used "bleeding cowboy" font

moon child

i've been celebrating my "birth week" since saturday

but today is the actual date

every month i'm a moon child

my moods change accordingly

everyday i'm a crab girl

defiantly, hard shell, soft inside

and everything i approach is sideways, never head-on

it might look like i'm a "go getter"

but i will contemplate everything, from all angles,

before i actually do something, i'm just quick at it

now that i'm older and wiser!

oh, did i mention the water!

i'm ruled by the tide, twice a day

good thing i have that crab shell to hide my mood swings!!!

full moon

i just had to take this challenge

from inspire me thursday

i'm so ruled by the moon

it's a great source of creatively for me when it is full

the photo was taken last fall during the harvest moon

through the trees just outside my front door

a few weeks ago i was bored and

made some simple paper backgrounds

i added some gesso on to to diffuse the text

a blue wash of paint

then added the "paper moon"

and transfered a copy of the photo with gel medium

i'd like to try this in my encaustic class

maybe next week!

finding my muse

i need to find my creative muse, agnes

she usually shows up around the full moon

but i can't wait that long

i need to make 150 cards to send out

to my owoh blogger friends

the gypsy caravan list is up over 680

i wish i could make that many cards

i've spent a lot of time

surfing through all their blogs

and now need to quite my mind, find agnes

and get to work on some cards

i'm glad its snowing

now i have no excuses

i don't know what it is about the full moon ,

perhaps it's because i'm a Cancerian

which is ruled by the moon

What ever it is, it always gives me a creative burst!

it lasts for days and i always feel

a sense of loss when it is gone

i wish I could have a whole month of this creativity!

i better take advantage and get back to my studio!
