encaustic class

today's project
was an experiment in texture
and the contrast of
rough and smooth
adding the stencil was something new
so far i'm liking what i've done
i will added some rusted metal
and maybe some paper
i haven't decided what photo to use?
details from the above work

i had fun with the heat gun
i love how it looks like marble

my second project was really easy
a map layered in wax and cheesecloth
one of my photos, inverted and mirrored
and some text
i haven't decided weather or not i like the metal disc

details from above work

Very nice. The heat gun is great isn't it.

I think they're both lovely, and I personally like the metal disk. Adds just the right balance to the pieces. Enjoying your blog!

I like the metal disk...the contrast of the soft and hard, dark and light, and the balance is nice! I love the serenity of the bottom piece, and the color of the top piece...can't wait to see the photo you pick!

The top one is very Rubenesque and I love the metal. Reminds me of a swirling sky...love those blues.

Wow... in awe! Those pieces you've created are divine... love the textures and smudgy colours. Think the metal disc is a nice contrast.
Enjoying visiting here - thank you!

Hi Nancy, it's me bothering you again, how do you do the frame/box around your photo inserts, I know someone on one of the blogs gave us a tutorial, but I can't remember who.
