encaustic class

with what i thought where allergies turned into a head cold

it was hard to focus in class today

so i worked on a simple texture project

i first covered the board with lots of different papers

then added glazes of color and rubbed in oil paint

some drywall tape , lots of criss cross strokes, die cuts and carving
to create lots of texture
i think i can use these for my texture challenge for next week

creative festival

today i got to spend the day at the creative festival

one of my favorite booths was gaudet-these fabulous felted coats


i also got to take a class with betty van nordstrand
making sugar roses

my friend ludgera

made a perfect one!!

texture challenge

sometimes a simple touch can make a big difference

for this weeks challenge i have several to choose from
(above a photo of peeling paint which looks like cracks)

(the inverted one works greats as a mask)

taking it a step further i added a color layer

it gives an umber tone to the texture

the key it to play!!! and see what can happen
