happy hallowe'en

my favorite part is watching
horror movies
i've seen every "halloween" movie this week
even the re-make
which scared the pants off me!!
but i think the love the original one the best
my all time favorite is watching
vampire movies
especially if they include a werewolf!
tonight i will watch all the
"underworld " movies

above are a few shots from a local store
they work great for
shadow shot sunday

encaustic class

sometimes i start with an idea
and then totaly get off track
but that's what class is for
learning new techniques
and experiencing "happy accidents"
not sure exactly what i was going for
but ended up with the above work
a photo from my country road trip a few weeks ago
i guess the "gold" represents the corn field
the sky was created with the heat gun
(which i don't use enough)
so i think i like the contrast of the smooth and rough
just not sure if i like the colour combo??

this one started out simple

but then i decided to add a little bit more

did i go too far???

switching gears

it's been since the spring that i've made any jewelry
i've been so busy with my encaustic class and yarn
that i thought it was time for a little change
i've had so many ideas running through my head
and since christmas is less then 9 weeks away
i got a little carried away this weekend
24 necklaces so far
it was a gorgeous day today
i tried taking photos out side but kept
getting a glare from all the silver
my scanner wasn't any better
so sorry about the quality of the photos

the case of the missing ball of yarn

after the "kitty" court session
last weekend
and who could forget this
i decided that with my failing memory
i only came home with 2 balls of
chocolate brown yarn not 3
so i went shopping for more
i came home with a bag full
but just to be safe i tied the bag
well, if i didn't see it with my own eyes!!!
i still needed proof so i got my camera

after "playing " with the bag for several minutes
it finally opened
this time it was a black ball
"i'll just pull this out with my teeth,
oh! you want to play wrestler!!"
says beanie
and a little victory dance
after i stopped laughing
i managed to get the ball way from her

only to find that she was back in the bag for another ball
this time i let her play with the yarn
hoping she would hide it next to the missing ball of yarn
no such luck

encaustic class

sometimes
less is more
after working with some really dark colours
it was a challenge to go
subtle

i added a map to the entire canvas
clear wax and cheesecloth
i applied the oil paint on top
and used lots of mineral spirits
to remove most of it
which really shows off the texture
added a few dried leaves
and
you can get a better look of the map

one of my photos
inverted and then added a mirror image
and last
a photo transfer of some old text
------------
i'm really happy with the results
and would like to do a "series"
in this style

wild rumpus

after visiting martha's blog
i felt compelled to contribute to
her knit-up project
since i don't (can but won't) knit
i decided to make a few crochet flowers
and today took a little drive to
the west end to mccormick park
i love the
"wild rumpus"
theme
while adding the flowers
several people walked by
and curious enough no one asked
what i was doing
they just smiled and kept walking
---------
there seems to be a
global knit off happening
one i really like is an entire
